IL DE RE TOO SLIM FOR NORTHUMBERLAND PLATE DESPITE CONDITIONS IN FAVOUR

Il De Re was going great guns in bottomless ground when last seen when landing the Chester Cup back in early May and will certainly have conditions in favour tomorrow at Newcastle. With heavy late-support for Donald McCain’s 6-yo being halved in price 10’s into 5/1, he is now best avoided. Overturn who was just headed that day having attempted to make all in a bold bid to land the Chester Cup could only finish a fading eighth in the Queen Alexandra Stakes at Royal Ascot a week ago. Although over a longer distance he really struggled and so fails to frank the form of the impressive Chester Cup victory. Overturn did of course win the prestigious Gosforth Park handicap two years ago and so Donald McCain has to be keen on Il De Re‘s chance. In attempting to seek the value in an open race in testing conditions MOTIVADO sticks out the most. Trainer, Sir Mark Prescott historically does well with staying handicappers and the gelding to Motivator looks the type to progress as a 4-yo, hopefully staying 2m+. It is his seasonal reappearance but he has reportedly been working well at home, training specifically for this race. He shaped well over 1m6f at Haydock Park last September and gave the impression that he’s a progressive type. He is off a feasible mark tomorrow and definitely has a chance, at 9/1 he looks the sure-fire value in the race. He has already been subject to some support, in from as big as 14/1 to as short as 7/1 and the suspicion is that he’ll go off a lot shorter than he is now. Gulf Of Naples returning to handicap company has to have a squeak with an impressive return to form in the Gold Cup at Royal Ascot. He went down just a length and three quarters to Colour Vision who looked an emphatic progressive stayer under Dettori. With the shocking amount of rainfall Newcastle was subject to on Thursday, and racing abandoned yesterday it is 50/50 as to whether racing will go ahead tomorrow but James Armstrong is keeping his fingers crossed that Gosforth Park misses the worst of the rain scheduled. There will be an early morning inspection tomorrow so we will keep you updated as soon as we hear more.

Good evening punters…!

With a busy day tomorrow we have decided to post some late night tips for Newmarket, Chester and Newcastle where the Northumberland Plate is the featured race of the day at Gosforth Park where we fancy Sir Mark Prescott’s MOTIVADO to land the spoils at 9/1 for the ever-improving Luke Morris. There are potentially seven meetings to get stuck into tomorrow – weather dependant, and we will be posting a daily double to compliment a lucky 15. Good luck if your having a flutter with GYTO tomorrow, set to be a great day with some highly competitive racing.
