Wednesday 15th August Selections

Luca Cumani holds a strong hand in EMIRATES QUEEN today at Salisbury. The 3-yo filly out of Street Cry has been largely progressive getting off the mark at Doncaster before going close in a listed race at York, just being caught late on by Barefoot Lady. She runs today in the EBF Upavon Fillies’ Stakes (listed race) at Salisbury over 1m1f198y and holds strong claims. The EBF Stakes is a long-established Listed race often won by a progressive-late maturing 3-yo who goes on to have a successful second half of the season. Kieron Fallon’s mount has only raced three times and has shown significant improvement with each outing. Its a filly we have been keeping a close eye on, and although usually only watch a horse as shortly priced as she is today we are happy to get involved. She is out of Street Cry however, and any significant going change at Salisbury may be worth considering. Street Cry don’t act particularly well on soft ground and so it would have to stay on the quicker side for our liking. Market leaders have a good record in this race, winning five from ten. (Photo

Barefoot Lady and Tony Hamilton find just enough to battle back against Emirates Queen and Kieron Fallon in the £35,000 Knavesmire feature. Luca Cumani was on ATR earlier this morning and he is very happy with how she has worked at home since her close second at York. He remained confident of her chances today, despite their being one or two unexposed rivals in the field. He said on form, she should be tough to beat and “holds all the aces”. (Photo –

Good morning!!

Another cracking day yesterday as we notched up another ten winners to compliment the sixteen we picked out on Monday. It’s been a solid week so far, despite the quality of the racing on offer. The highlight of the day yesterday came in the second race of the day as the Richard Fahey-trained Asgardella made a taking debut ay Ayr. We picked her out late on Monday night and she looked overpriced at 9/1. With Fahey holding such a good record at Ayr it was worth having a punt on, especially with the favourite long odds on despite never having won. Tony Hamilton gave her a lovely ride, holding her up early on before somehow managing to get a run staying on powerfully getting her nose in front. She showed a real professional attitude and goes into the notebook. We are not getting carried away however, and the quality of the maiden has to be questioned with the favourite finishing a distant last. Ukrainian was potentially the most well-backed horse of the day for Mark Johnston finally sticking his nose in front. At 6/1 we had to have a punt, and highlighted it up as our IWAC (In with a chance).

There are just four meetings to get stuck into today with Gowran Park falling victim of the returning wet weather! The focus would be on Salisbury, with the quality of racing again pretty poor today in truth. Good luck if your having a punt today, and make sure you keep an eye out for any going changes.
